An art of grouping related objects

چکیده
In today’s world, clustering has seen many applications due to its ability of binding related data together but there are many challenges while accomplishing the task which seems to be simple. Need for clustering arisen due to desire for useful data at one location out of huge amount data increasing day by day. Clustering has proved itself fruitful in many areas like search engines, e-governance and e-business etc. This paper intends to give overview of many clustering algorithms with their characteristics. It also attempts to spot out various clustering techniques and briefly reveals which technique is more suitable for particular requirement. Index Terms Clustering, data mining, dataset, mean, medoid.

Grouping Objects to Homogeneous Classes Satisfying Requisite Mass
Grouping datasets plays an important role in many scientific researches. Depending on data features and applications, different constrains are imposed on groups, while having groups with similar members is always a main criterion. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for grouping the objects with random labels, nominal features having too many nominal attributes. In addition, the size constra...
متن کاملPersistent K-Means: Stable Data Clustering Algorithm Based on K-Means Algorithm
Identifying clusters or clustering is an important aspect of data analysis. It is the task of grouping a set of objects in such a way those objects in the same group/cluster are more similar in some sense or another. It is a main task of exploratory data mining, and a common technique for statistical data analysis This paper proposed an improved version of K-Means algorithm, namely Persistent K...
متن کاملRealisation of a Dynamically Grouped Object-Oriented Virtual Memory Hierarchy
Conventional paging systems do not perform well with large object-oriented environments (such as Smalltalk-80 [GR83]) due to the fine granularity of objects and the persistence of the object space. One approach taken to increase efficiency has been to group objects together in virtual space in an attempt to keep related objects on the same page. Conventionally, grouping has been performed whils...
متن کاملWαSH-ing visual repositories: Searching Europeana using local features
Museums, libraries, national archives and art galleries deal with visual objects that must be made accessible to a wide variety of experts or non-experts like researchers, art lovers or interested people. The ability to identify objects sharing some aspect of visual similarity can be useful when trying to trace historical influences or when looking for further examples of paintings, sculptures ...
متن کاملObject grouping based on real-world regularities facilitates perception by reducing competitive interactions in visual cortex.
In virtually every real-life situation humans are confronted with complex and cluttered visual environments that contain a multitude of objects. Because of the limited capacity of the visual system, objects compete for neural representation and cognitive processing resources. Previous work has shown that such attentional competition is partly object based, such that competition among elements i...
متن کاملResearchable context of Iran's handicrafts from sociology of art perspective (Case study: carpet)
With the development of academic fields in Iran's handicrafts area and revealing of unbreakable links among social issues and arts, the importance of paying attention to effects of social contexts in the development, variation or stability of Iran's handicrafts factors have been revealed. In the meantime Carpets, as the most important cultural and handicraft product of Iran, have notable rank i...
